Adventure sessions are tailored to the location, season, and experience you're hoping to create.
We might wander through a field of wildflowers, explore a coastal beach at sunset, watch mountain light dance across an alpine lake, or follow a trail to a breathtaking overlook. Along the way, there will be plenty of room for laughter, exploration, connection, and genuine moments.
You don't need to be an experienced hiker or outdoor enthusiast. Some adventure sessions involve a short walk from the parking lot, while others require a bit more exploring. Together, we'll choose an experience that feels right for you.

Styling plays a huge role in the overall look and feel of your images, and adventure sessions often involve locations that deserve a little extra planning (hello layers!). That’s why every session includes personalized styling guidance.
When you choose clothing that you love and feel good in, it allows you to be present in the moment with your loved ones. I’ll help you coordinate colors, textures, and outfits that photograph beautifully, complement the landscape, and still feel like you.

Frequently Asked Questions
While my standard family sessions are designed for immediate family members only, I do offer extended family sessions as a separate offering. These sessions are a wonderful way to preserve multiple generations together. Reach out to me directly if you're interested in booking an extended family session!
what if the weather changes?
Unless it's overcast, sessions take place during golden hour (the hour before sunset) in order to infuse your photos with gooey golden light. If you're worried about a late bedtime for your little one, I've got you covered with tips to make it a great night!
what time of day do sessions take placE?
I always plan adventure sessions to last up to 90 minutes. These sessions are intentionally longer than local sessions so that we have plenty time to really explore and interact with the location without feeling rushed.
how long does an adventure session last?
In general, many of the same things you would wear to a local session with me (plus layers)! Styling and ease of movement are both especially important for adventure sessions, that's why every session includes customized styling support, outfit recommendations for the whole family, and a session prep guide so that you show up feeling comfortable, beautiful, and ready to connect with your loved ones.
what should we wear?
Absolutely! The majority of my adventure locations are family-friendly and work beautifully for children of all ages. In fact, it's often the younger kiddos that have the most fun exploring the environment!
can we bring young children?
Nope. Some locations are super accessible (paved path from the parking lot) while others may involve a short to moderate walk. We'll choose a location that fits your comfort level.
do we have to hike?

I am not a Washington State native and was visiting from out of state. Meredith was very responsive and provided so many helpful details for planning this family shoot during a busy trip. She was very warm, friendly, and easy to work with. She was calming and knew just what to do when I accidentally stumbled over a piece of driftwood on the beach. She made it work, provided me with a new sweater (mine was saturated), assured me that this look would blend with the photos (it did), and calmed my nerves which were a bit more heightened than usual. Our photos turned out great and we can't wait to cherish them for years to come! If we take more family trips to Washington, we'd be happy to use Meredith again!
